Although BASIC was founded and is based in the United Kingdom we also operate a separate account (not shop related) for donations to meet needs overseas.
We feel it is important to balance our giving and, from our general account, we have been able to assist the following:-
Through the Lydia Trust BASIC paid for many young women to be trained in midwifery skills in Napal.
We have recently provided substantial assistance to Felixstowe resident Hannah Earrey who is working with the Smile Organisation.
Hannah writes.."I am travelling to South Africa, Johannesburg, on the 1st Feb-11th Aug. I will working mainly in the orphanages, caring for children and babies affected by HIV and AIDS"

Culture of Peace course - Philippines
BASIC are pleased to announce that we have provided substantial funding from our general account to support a summer 2006 Culture of Peace course under the direction of the International School of Manila. This will enable two Tibetan participants from Dharamsala and two participants from Nepal to attend. |

Two philippines twins who required immediate heart surgery. Costs of the surgery were met by BASIC through our general fund. The father of the children had taken out a very substatial loan to pay for the life-saving surgery. BASIC were able to pay these costs in full on his behalf. |
DEC Tsunami Disaster appeal
BASIC were able to donate £6000.00 as a one off payment towards the appeal in January 2005 |
Indian Medical Checks
An organisation providing essential medical check ups in India received significant financial assistance from BASIC. This group travel from town to town daily and provide medical assistance to factory workers etc. |
New Library
We provided financial assistance to students of the International School of Manilla, Philippines, to build a much-needed library locally. Top photo above shows the students building the pathway to the library. |
