 | Our Origins
Although BASIC became officially registered as a Charitable Trust early in 2000 We have been implementing the idea of contributing to those in need through business profits since April 1996.
As our charitable contributions grew in line with our business activities The BASIC Life Charity was formed.
The funding of projects is split into two accounts.
The first is an account held for the Felixstowe shop where all proceeds are strictly restricted for distribution back into the Felixstowe community.
The second account is funded by private business and is used locally, nationally and internationally to aid many forms of need.
This model of a charity shop serving its immediate locality has worked very well. Our second shop in Orwell Road, Felixstowe, opened on 22nd October 2005.
In January 2005 as a unique combination of funding from both account a one-off payment of almost £6000.00 was made to the Red Cross Tsunami appeal.
We hope we shall be able to assist many new projects in the years to come and are extremely grateful to those who have worked very hard to make BASIC the success it has become.
We would always welcome input, ideas and thoughts about our work.
